Picture this, you’ve had an amazing night with the squad, shots and cocktails all round and busting fire moves on the d-floor.
But fast-forward to the next day and you've awoken with the world’s worst headache.
We’ve all been there.
Well, next time you’ll be more prepared, because physiologist Kevin Strang from the University of Wisconsin revealed to Buzzfeed the two things that will cure your hangover, scientifically proven.
Apparently you shouldn’t just drink water as it won’t hydrate you, because alcohol blocks a hormone that lets your kidneys regulate how much water you lose when you pee.
To really hydrate your body and not feel like death, you should have a sports drink and chicken noodle soup.
Yep, you read that right! No green kale super smoothie in sight.
Why, you ask? Well, dehydration and low blood sugar is why you feel so shitty after a big night, and your liver ca’t give you the glucose you need because it’s detoxifying the alcohol.
The sports drink gives you the salt your kidneys need to absorb water, and the sugar your liver needs because it can’t make it’s own. Thanks!
Then the soup comes in, delivering salt, plus B vitamins. “So B vitamins will increase the availability of that enzyme and it’ll help you with the detox process and with your blood sugar,” Strang explained.
Now go out, stock up on sports drinks and soup, and get ready for the weekend. 🍸🍷🍻
