Vanessa Hudgens and her bae Austin Butler thought they were being super romantic when they carved their names and a love heart into a rock on Valentine's Day. But you might remember the folks at Coconino National Forest in the States weren't very impressed.
Even though VHudg deleted the Insta post, TMZ reported at the time that what they did was considered "damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States" and they could possibly be fined $5000 along with six months in jail!
WELL. The High School Musical babe has now received her punishment and luckily it's not as bad as we first thought. Vanessa has avoided jail time but she still has to pay a $1000 fine. Let's be honest, it could've MUCH worse so she's probs thanking her lucky stars rn!
According to Us Weekly, the fine "will be used by a volunteer group called Friends of the Forest to help restore the rock wall, which is usually done by scrubbing or sanding the rock."
"This incident is currently under investigation, so there is not much I can share specifically since I am not privy to the details of an investigation until it is complete," a rep for Coconino National Forest explained. "However, I can say that the issue of people carving their names and other things in rocks in the Sedona and surrounding area is always a challenge we face, and [we] try to inform people about its destructive nature."
We wonder who's gonna pay... will Austin be a gentleman and take the fall or will they go halves??
