Twitter is about to make your Twitter dreams come true with the billion dollar company, FINALLY (and we mean finally), actually letting use all of our 140 characters adequately.
Twitter has announced a wave of new changes when it comes to compiling all your thoughts into those dismal 140 characters. If you are one of the 310 million avid people apart of the Twitterverse, here’s the 411. Twitter will no longer count @names, videos, photos and other media attachments. Oh and remember that really funny tweet you made in 2010 that no one liked? Never fear, as you can now Re-tweet and quote yourself.
That’s right! Tag as many people and attach as many photos as you want just… don’t add any links as that will still count (sorry!)
So to all you haters and trolls out there, you can now express your hatred towards celebrities, musicians, actors, athletes and anyone in the media by tagging them all in the one hateful tweet. Wait till Jimmy Kimmel gets a load of this. His segment ‘Celebrities read mean tweets’ is going to have a field day (and tbh, we can’t wait! #soznotsoz). Remember, though, if you give it, you better be prepared to receive it.
The idea of adjusting the rules to the 140 character limit is the company’s attempt to reach more users (as 310 million clearly isn’t enough already) as it tries to stay in competition with social media favourite Facebook which currently has 1.65 billion users.
The new changes will be rolled out in coming months, and the company hints that more could be in store.
