Whether you stop by for a few drinks or crawl out at 4am, you’ve got to get a selfie under the neon sign by the leather booths. PS they’ve also got a retro jukebox and pool table, so even the token Designated Dave of your squad will leave in happier spirits. Ahem, minus the spirits.
2. Absinthe Salon at Le Bon Ton

Melbourne is the food capital of our nation, but even the fussiest of foodies will appreciate their nightcap with a side of toasties and American style pulled-pork sandwiches. TBH, we wouldn’t go past the oysters served with a glass of champers. The Absinthe room has an old school Louisiana vibe, so ladies – slip your heels on and head over to fall in love. With the décor, at least.
3. Clever Little Tailor

Swanky liquor bar, that’s perfect for after-work dranks! The bar food, namely the tapas are where it’s at. FYI chicks, don’t bother ordering a cosmo, their range of whiskey’s are out of control. So, if you’ve booked a weekend away with the man, you’re definitely guaranteed to score a few good-girlfriend points!
4. Sneaky Tony’s
Where: Northbridge WA 6003
Ok, so you won’t need to fret if your girlfriend’s have had a few too many predrinks at the hotel beforehand, because the seccies at the front door are only going to worry about letting you in if you’ve got the secret password. Yes, we’re talking some open sesame sh*t right here. Every weekend the folks who own the joint reveal the code words on their Facebook page. So keep your phone nearby, and enjoy ever-changing cocktail menu.
5. Preacher’s Restaurant bar
Where: 5 Knopwood St, Hobart TAS 7000
Poor old Tazzy, despite boasting its amazing seafood and vineyards is usually ignored, often to referred to as the forgotten little sister state. Maybe even the stepsister in regards to her fellow Strayans. But Hobart brings a whole new level to the Aussie nightlife or even chilled Sunday sessions with the Preacher’s Bar. The novelty will probably never wear off, you can literally order pints and drink them onboard an old-school bus and even play chess in between downing burgers and wet pussy shots. #Boozeonabus
6. Sonny’s House Of Blues

Sonny’s House Of Blues is the ultimate joint for a live gig. It’s very essence of basement feels makes it all the rage. The place is decked out in pretty fairly lights and the bar offers $10 nachos. Plus, the graffiti in the toilet is a hundred per cent Insta-worthy.
7. Uncle Mings

Lockout laws aside, Sydney-siders are spoiled for choice! Uncle Mings is the place to go with friends who aren’t afraid to try a something different. So ditch your usual pub-loving gals and enter this gem of a Japanese bar. The ambience is ideal for a Friday night out, or even a third-date venue. The delish cocktails are named after underworld drug lords, which is a little freaky, but the range of Asian beers and spirits make up for it. If you’re in need of a mid-night snack, Ming’s famous pork dumplings are your go-to meal. Coz, who doesn’t love pork dumplings? Any downsides? The crimson lights. Make sure your camera’s flash is on!
8. Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern
Where: Basement, 60 Park St, Sydney NSW 2000
Located a short walk from Hyde Park should you need to, err, get a breather, this one’s a winner. Don’t let the “Tavern” title deter you, the bar tenders are your typical hipster bearded blokes who make a mean cocktail and do so with a smile. Yeah, yeah the drinks are good, but the best bit? For five bucks you can get the legendary Mary’s burgers delivered to you after you finish chugging away at your bevvys. Yep, sold.
