True life confession; we're dry shampoo addicts. It's so easy to use and ain't nobody got time for hair washing, plus it adds great texture! But one girl, Nicole Baxter, learnt the hard way that there's a reason they ask you to patch test products first. She's shared her story on Facebook about how using dry shampoo led to her slowly going bald.
Nicole started noticing a bald patch that kept getting bigger and bigger, as well as an itchy scalp. "My scalp was also very itchy and flaky. I had wee red sores and blisters all over my scalp and a terrible burning sensation all over my head- to the point where I would wake up several times a night due to the discomfort/pain." That's when she went to the doctor, who diagnosed with Triangular Alopecia and ordered her to stop using all products while they got to the bottom of what was causing the issue and prepared for a scalp biopsy.
So you'd be freaking out right? Well as the next 7 weeks passed, Nicole's scalp calmed down. When the doctor asked her what had changed she said she's stopped using her dry shampoo. The lightbulb switched! Here is the whole story and warning (and clarification around her personal hygiene for all the haters out there) from Nicole: "In the name of God, never in all my life did I think I'd have to explain my personal hygiene to 23,000+ people!! I did..."
Scary huh? Nicole still has the bald patch and isn't sure if the hair will grow back despite her scalp feeling better: "It is not worth having this awful patch that I might be stuck with on the side of my head all because I can't be arsed to dry my hair." Just goes to show that chemicals can be harmful and if you feel any irritation STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY...
