Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has confirmed via Instagram that his next role will be Doc Savage, the world’s first superhero.
"It's OFFICIAL," the actor wrote in his post, "For all comic book fans you already know the world's first superhero (pre-dating Superman) is the "Man of Bronze" himself Clark "Doc" Savage... Can't wait to sink my teeth into this one of a kind character!"
If you haven’t heard of him, that’s ok. Doc Savage was first published in comic books way back in the 1930s.
The Rock says Doc Savage “was physically and mentally trained from birth by his father and a team of scientists to become the perfect human specimen with a genius level intellect”, and describes him as “literally the master of everything.”
Real name Clark “Doc” Savage Jr, he actually inspired the creation of Clark Kent, aka Superman.
The Rock’s main reason he’s excited for the role is because Doc Savage is a “f*cking hilarious weirdo.”
ATM there are no deets on when the film will be released, but it’s being directed by Shane Black, the director of Iron Man 3, so you know it will be good.
We’ll let The Rock save our day, any day!
