Perrie Edwards has been slammed for cultural misappropriation after she posted a pic of her fave pair of boots on Instagram.
The Little Mix singer shared a snap of her nine-year-old Native American-inspired moccasin-style shoes on social media, and it sent fans into an absolute spin. Some haters even shamed her for not having freshly shaved legs... WTF?!
"If you're not Native American you have no business wearing these traditional celebratory moccasins for purely "bohemian" fashion purposes," one angry fan commented. "It's wrong and silly and disrespectful."
But many users came to the defence of Zayn’s former flame, with one writing, "I'm native American and it doesn't bother me when people wear stuff of my culture" and another saying, "But it's alright for non-Christians to wear a shirt with a symbol of the cross on it ... And it's alright for most to be homophobic and racist ... She's not disrespecting the culture, she obviously has an interest in it and likes it... #doublestandards"
It’s not the first time Hollywood stars have offended the Native American community with Jessica Simpson and Pharell previously coming under fire for wearing Native American Headdress.
