It's a great time to be a woman in the superhero world. After years of male-dominated films, the bad-ass female heroes are finally getting their own flicks.
Just last week Marvel made the amazing announcement that "Black Widow" (Scarlett Johansson) would be getting her own standalone superhero film.
Now, Warner Bros. have announced a female-fronted Suicide Squad spin-off and comic fans could not be happier!
Though the highly anticipated film is yet to hit theaters, Margot Robbie's turn as the anti-hero Harley Quinn is already receiving major Hollywood buzz.
The Hollywood Reporter have said that the new project will not be a Quinn solo, and will focus on "several of DC's female heroes and villains, with names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey surfacing." Other female heroes and villains of the DC franchise include Poison Ivy, Katana and Bumblebee.
It is also known to the publication that the script writer is female, and Margot Robbie herself will be one of the film's producers.
According to THR, Robbie fell in love with DC's female characters while studying the comics for her role in Suicide Squad, and brought on a writer to develop the project before bringing it to Warner Bros., who snapped it up right away. WAY TO SLAY, MARGOT!
