Jennifer Lopez is being absolutely annihilated by fans over the production of her new single.
While 'Ain't Your Mama' is a catchy female anthem written by Meghan Trainor, the producer behind the potential hit is music producer Dr. Luke who is currently at the centre of a court battle between Sony Music and Kesha who claimed she was raped by the multi-million dollar producer.
While she lost the case, public opinion sided with Kesha, resulting in Dr. Luke being ostracised by leading female talents in the music industry, including Adele and Kelly Clarkson.
After performing the track for the first time on the American Idol finale, the 46-year-old hitmaker was smashed on social media for Dr. Luke's involvement in the single.
"Why would you work with #DrLuke after such a scandal?" one followed asked. "And just to produce that song out of all the possible songs? #AintYourMama".
According to Megan Trainor however, JLo had nothing to do with Luke's involvement, jumping to her defence in a recent interview with Digital Spy.
"I texted her the song and she had no idea," she added. "She thought I did it alone by myself at my house, which a lot of people think because I do do that.
"I sent it to her and said, 'Do you like the song?', and she said, 'I love the song, my kid loves the song — he's made me play it five times already, so I know it's a hit — when can I cut it?'. So I said immediately, 'Whenever you want!'"
Jennifer is signed to Epic Records managed by L.A Reid, who Trainor mentioned was involved in the collaboration. Given the many wheels that turn in the back of a record label, there would have been many people involved in the decision to pump the track during American Idol’s swansong.
"But I felt terrible when Jennifer got all the hate. it's just all ridiculous. It's such a big song for her." said Meghan.
