Yes it’s FINALLY that time of year again! Winter is coming and the wait is almost over for GOT Season 6! (Gawd they know how to make us wait...)
We’ve all seen the trailer below, that teases the ‘The Dead are (finally) Coming’, so there’s no doubt we need to prepare for the biggest GOT battle yet (which apparently took a WHOLE month to shoot).
The first episode will air April 24 (In the US of course) so put it in your leather-bound diary and stay tuned for a quick season 5 catch up.
*WARNING – SPOILER ALERT...SO MANY SPOILERS*
1) Firstly, who’s dead?
There’s not enough time in the world to list everyone whose died in GOT (6 characters died in the last episode of season 5 alone!) But to quickly recap, here are some of the ‘mainer’ characters that kicked the bucket in season 5:
Jon Snow – Got Julius Caesarred by his brothers in black.
Mance Rayder (Leader of the Wildlings) – Burned at the stake.
Barristan Selmy (Daenerys's trusted advisor) – Died in battle.
Shireen, Selyse and Stannis Baratheon – Shireen got burned at the stake, her mother Selyse ran into to save her and also died (SHOCKER) and Stannis died when he marched on Winterfell.
2) Secondly, who's nearly dead?
Ayra Stark – Alive, but blind.
The Mountain – Saved by some ‘unorthodox’ methods (think Frankenstein.)
Jorah Mormont – Contracted greyscale so his days are numbered.
Theon Greyjoy and Sansa Stark – Last we saw they jumped from Winterfell’s wall together!
3) And thirdly, WTF else happened in the last episode ‘Mothers Mercy?”
‘Mothers Mercy’ was an action packed episode. Some characters seemed to get exactly what they wanted, but others…well they didn’t.
Daenerys is stranded in the wildness. John Snow literally got stabbed in the back and well seems pretty much dead, but could only be nearly dead or maybe even un-dead (Confusing, we know!).
But Brienne finally got to avenge the death of Renly Baratheon by killing Stannis outside Winterfell. And far, far away from all this, Cersai finally confessed her way out of the jail in the church. In other Lannister news, Jaime told his ‘niece’ he was her father (yeah, she was pretty grossed out as well), and Tyrion (the imp) has talked his way into a mayor-type position in the city of Meereen.
We tried to keep it brief. But if there’s anything GOT isn’t, its brief.
