There are a couple of things to look out for before you throw out the best invention since street-styled leggings.
Does the device reek of a burning smell, before it goes onto your hair?
Are there black splotchy marks that you can’t remove?
Is the heat indicator constantly flickering?
Were you too stingy to buy a ceramic iron and it’s been a few years?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions then it’s time to ditch the tongs and get an upgrade.

Many hair straighteners have an imprinted expiration date on the device, look for an M label printed near the settings.
We know a good straightener can cost an eye-watering amount of dough! But ceramic plates do tend to last longer. Sure the generic wand that costs less than a weekly manicure might have nice packing, but a good iron will be more durable than the manicure.
Keep your new bathroom pride and joy clean by regularly wiping it with nail polish remover. Just make sure the device is off and cool. Singed eyebrows are never a good look!
