Admit it: you’re more concerned about the sneaky Insty shot you’re gonna snap at the hottest new restaurant/bar in town than you are about how the actual food tastes. (No judgement – us too.)
If you’re in Sydney looking for a foodie snap to make all your followers drool with envy, you’re spoilt for choice. So switch off that flash to avoid embarrassing yourself and hit up these picture-perf places.
1. The Butler, Potts Point
Book a table outside for just before the sun goes down – there’s no point showing up if you can’t get the standard balcony shot of city views.
The cocktails are on-point, too.
2. Bondi Icebergs, Bondi
The menu’s pretty much glorified pub food, but it has a sweet view of the legendary Bondi pool. And who doesn’t like pools?
If you do stick around for a meal, the seafood platter is your photographic must-have. Also, it tastes epic, so a good choice all round.
3. The Grounds Of Alexandria, Alexandria
The food is ridic. Whether your tooth is sweet or savoury, you’ve got to get snap-happy at The Grounds.
Those doughnuts, though.
4. Piccolo Me, Sydney CBD
Because the only thing better than fried ice cream served with chocolate sauce is fried ice cream served with chocolate sauce in a novelty syringe.
5. Hugos, Manly
The woodfired pizza is some of the best in Sydney, we’ll give them that. Looks pretty good with a Valencia filter, too.
But everyone queues up on a sunny Sunday arvo for the gorgeous view of Manly Beach.
6. Opera Bar, Darling Harbour
Look, TBH, the cocktails are kinda pricey. (But delicious, so we’ll let it slide.)
The view of the harbour, though? That makes your Tom Collins worth every dollar.
7. Gelato Messina, Surry Hills
We’re not saying the gelato here isn’t good, because that would be a lie. But the line-up on a Saturday night is out of control. Why, you ask? Because the Insty ice cream shot is nothing without Messina’s infamous orange, red and green cup.
7. Sky Terrace at The Star, Pyrmont
They’ve got a to-die-for cocktail list, and sliders that’ll fill the spot before the alcohol does, but everyone is REALLY there to pose by the life-sized chessboard and flamingo-topped croquet racquets.
9. The Boat House, Palm Beach
Is the coffee here great? Who cares?! That cute-AF chocolate anchor decoration sprinkled on top of the cappuccino you just ordered is what it’s all about. No, you can’t have a piccolo/flat white/latte/espresso. Cappuccino. Anchor. Do it.
